Minister Budi Gunadi Speaks About Social Capital, Post-Pandemic Normality

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said normality post-pandemic can be achieved only if society can collectively obey health protocols and if a global health system transformation is established. With such a system, the global community will be able to have a dependable funding system once another pandemic breaks out.

In a virtual discussion with the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) on Thursday, the Minister said “We need a global health system similar to the role of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the global economic stage that involves global participation and management.”

Sadikin talked about the importance of collaboration in building a social capital in Indonesia. “Do not underestimate the social capital in Indonesia. Our society will see an extraordinary result if we collaborate.”

He also recalled his experience as President Jokowi appointed him to become the Health Minister, where at the time he felt was the perfect time to contribute to society after meeting success as CEO of Bank Mandiri, Inalum, and Deputy SOEs Minister.

“Becoming the Health Minister is my afterlife investment. This is my time to contribute for many people,” he said.

Apart from Budi Gunadi Sadikin, the annual discussion is no stranger to notable figures being featured as key speakers such as Jusuf Kalla, Dahlan Iskan, Anies Baswedan, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, up to Susi Pudjiastuti.
