Ma’ruf Amin Says Fine after Getting Covid-19 Vaccine: No Pain, No Dizziness

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Vice President Ma’ruf Amin received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine today, February 17, at his official residence in Jalan Diponegoro, Jakarta.

Alhamdulillah, I just got vaccinated a while ago. Alhamdulillah, there was no problem, no pain, no dizziness. [I feel] fine,” said Ma’ruf.

The VP was accompanied by Deputy Health Minister Dante Saksono and the Covid-19 Handling Task Force Chairman Doni Monardo.

He further invited elderly people to get the vaccine. Ma’ruf explained that vaccination aimed at creating immunity against coronavirus infection. The herd immunity could only be achieved if 70 percent of the Indonesian population are inoculated.

“So I call on all of my fellow citizens, people whose quite old age as I am over 70 years old [to get the vaccine]. I think this vaccine, Inshallah, will not cause any side effects,” the Vice President said.

Ma’ruf Amin received the CoronaVac vaccine produced by China-based pharmacy Sinovac. The former chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council or MU got his first dose after the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) granted an emergency use authorization (EUA) for the vaccine for elderlies over 60 years.
