Ma’ruf Amin: Pandemic Expedites Bureaucratic Reform

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Vice President Ma’ruf Amin stated the COVID-19 pandemic hadaccelerated the nation’s bureaucratic reform.

“Behind the ordeal, it turns out to provide a good cause, too. Since the onset of the pandemic, state apparatus or ASN are asked to adjust and carry out new working methods,” said Ma’ruf when presiding over a meeting of the National Bureaucratic Reform Steering Committee (KPBRN) at his official residence in Jakarta on Monday, June 29.

He said during the implementation of the working from home order, the optimal use of information and communication technology had become a challenge.

The establishment of the e-government system or SPBE must also be achieved immediately and adopted by all state institutions: ministries, non-ministerial government institutions, up to local administrations.

“The quick application of digital bureaucracy through the SPBE must be improved further. This digital bureaucracy needs to be supported by digital reform in leadership, human resources, infrastructure, and supporting rules,” the VP added.

He added the success of bureaucratic reform must also be backed by the professionalism of state apparatus via good management. Ma’ruf Amin further demanded the formulation of governance of ASN for bureaucratic reform be completed immediately.
