IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Health Access Justice Coalition said there are still many families of Covid-19 patients who are forced to pay treatment costs of up to hundreds of millions of rupiah to the hospital. Meanwhile, the Government has committed to take responsibility for the entire cost of Covid-19 patients.
LBH Jakarta’s Public Lawyer, Charlie Albajili, said that the government had committed to cover all costs for treating patients with various treatment methods.
He said this treatment is a form of state responsibility in handling the outbreak. This is regulated in Article 10 of Law Number 4 of 1984 concerning Outbreaks of Infectious Diseases, Article 8 of Law Number 6 of 2018 concerning Health Quarantine.
“In addition, Article 19 of Law 36/2009 of the Law on Health states that the Government is responsible for the availability of all forms of quality, safe, efficient and affordable health efforts,” Charlie said in a press release, Wednesday, August 18, 2021.
He said the legal consequences of Presidential Decree No. 11 of 2020 concerning the Determination of Public Health Emergencies are the government’s obligation in the current health emergency situation that must be enforced. Not only that, he said, President Joko Widodo had also issued Presidential Decree 12/2020 concerning the Emergency Status of Non-Natural National Disasters.
Charlie said that there were still many Covid-19 patients who had to bear the very expensive treatment costs themselves.
