Luhut Pandjaitan: Surge in Covid-19 Cases in 9 Provinces Starts to Be Worrying

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan asked the Health Ministry to immediately disseminate the standard protocol of therapeutic management for Covid-19 patients in all hospitals in eight provinces reporting the highest virus transmission.

“I ask the Health Ministry to soon socialize the treatment protocol to all referral hospitals in eight provinces and Aceh starting next week because the surge in cases starts to be worrying,” said Luhut in a written statement on Monday, September 21, 2020.

The Health Ministry was also demanded to assist the implementation of the socialization and provide training for doctors and health workers, as well as to conduct the monitoring.

Luhut further asked the Health Ministry to ensure the availability of drugs and therapeutic tools mentioned in the guidelines. “The task force team formed by the Health Ministry must begin the work. I demand reports from the ministry on Thursday (September 24, 2020),” he added.

In an effort to present better medical treatment, the Coordinating Minister urged state-owned hospitals in those regions to help referral hospitals in applying the treatment protocol. “I want each health affairs unit and regional military medical department of the police and the military command to help monitor the implementation of the medical treatment for patients with Covid-19.”

The Health Ministry’s special staffer for health development and finance, Alexander Ginting, revealed that the standard protocols of therapeutic management for Covid-19 patients contained mild, moderate, and severe clinical management.

“The protocol which is drafted by five medical professional organizations, namely PDPI, PAPDI, IDAI, PERDATIN, PERKI based on the WHO guidelines include standards of treatment and medicine that must be given to patients based on the severity level of the case,” Alexander explained.
