LIPI Sterilization Robots Ready to Operate in Bandung Hospital

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta A team of researchers from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) in Bandung has created two robots that are able to conduct indoor sterilization dubbed the ROM20 or autonomous multi-use robot 20 and the Si-SUSan or Simple-Smart UV-C Sanitizer. Both robots are able to be controlled remotely to sterilize any type of indoor facility from any virus, including the novel coronavirus.

LIPI’s electric power and mechatronic research center’s Hendri Maja Saputra said the ROM20 is equipped with three modular subsystems that can carry type C ultraviolets, disinfection pulverization, and food heating panel subsystem.

The ROM20 is able to be controlled remotely through a Bluetooth connection up to 23-meters.

Meanwhile, Si-SUSan has UV-C room sterilization controlled with AI to specifically sterilize an indoor space from Covid-19. This one is controlled through an Android-based app.

LIPI has gifted the two robots to the Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung on Wednesday, February 3. This grant is a cooperation between LIPI and the Research and Technology Ministry under the Bakti Inovasi national program.

RSHS Bandung director, Nina Susana Dewi, said the two robots are the most technological grants the hospital has ever received. “The arrival of ROM20 and Si-SUSan will surely be helpful for RSHS workers and make their work more effective and efficient,” said Dewi.
