Lampung Police Deny Fatalities in Rally Against Job Creation Law

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Bandarlampung – Lampung Police Chief of Public Relations Sr. Comr. Zahwani Pandra Arsyad denied reports that a student died during a protest against the Job Creation Omnibus Law in front of the Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) office.

“It is a hoax that someone died. It is not true,” said Zahwani in Bandarlampung on Wednesday evening, October 7, 2020.

He called on all people everywhere to maintain public calm. People must not spread information that affects public security, Zahwani opined.

He also asked the public not to be easily provoked and receive hoax information or news without first checking the fact, let alone disseminate it.

“So please people should be calm and not easily provoked by false news when dealing with this issue,” Zahwani underlined.

He further stressed that in the mass demonstration against the newly-established Omnibus Law which ended in chaos, 26 people got injured due to tear gas and being stepped on when the protesters were divided.

“So out of 26 injured people, six people are still being treated in three hospitals in Bandarlampung City, namely Bhayangkara Hospital, A. Dadi Tjokrodipo Hospital, and Bumi Waras Hospital,” the policeman added.

The joint mass demonstration of students from various universities, workers, and young people in Lampung protesting the Job Creation Law before the Lampung DPRD office turned into chaos on Wednesday afternoon.
