Labor Union, Nahdlatul Ulama To Challenge Job Creation Law in Court

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta Following the end of the three-day nationwide strikes, the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) announced Friday that it would file a judicial review against the omnibus law on job creation the House passed on Monday.

KSPI and 32 laborers’ federations in Friday’s press release asserted their stand against the omnibus law, and that they planned to conduct national and international campaigns to better communicate their rejection against the law’s cluster on employment.

KSPI is not the only organization that will take matters to the Constitutional Court (MK) as one of the two largest Islamic organizations, the Nahdlatul Ulama, is also preparing to legally challenge the “job creation” law.

The education cluster contained in the job creation law is also a subject of debate and will be challenged by education group Perkumpulan Keluarga Besar Tamansiswa (PKBTS) due to the commercial nature of the new law, which they claimed was against the basic principles of education.
