KPU, Bawaslu Members Need To Be Ready for 2024 Elections: Tito

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta House Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian asserted that members of the General Election Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) for the 2022-2027 period, need to be prepared to deal with a relatively heavy burden in the year of politics in 2024.

” This may be a brand-new experience for us. And because the workload is rather heavy, obviously, it needs Bawaslu and KPU members who are physically and psychologically strong under high pressure,” said Tito after sending a copy of the Presidential Decree associated to the Selection Committee of KPU and Bawaslu members on Tuesday, October 12, 2021.

Tito stated in 2024, there will be a presidential election that will run concurrently with the regional legislative elections. After that, there will be synchronised regional heads elections held throughout Indonesia except for Yogyakarta and level 2 areas of Jakarta.

” Up until we supply innovative breakthroughs to make the 2024 General Election and Regional Head Elections more efficient, short, and prevent extended department of society,” stated Tito.

The minister proposed criteria of candidates for the KPU and Bawaslu members, such as people who might work in a group and collaborate with other institutions yet separately.

The Selection Committee chairman Juri Ardiantoro stated his team will quickly design a schedule and working plan for the choice team to be submitted to President Joko Widodo. “We have the exact same commitment to work transparently, partly, and individually,” Juri stated.
