KPK Names Ex-Regent of Buru Selatan Suspect for Receiving Rp10bn Bribe

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named the former regent of Buru Selatan, Tagop Sudarsono Soulisa, as a suspect in the alleged bribery case. Deputy Chairperson Lili Pintauli Siregar said Tagop had received bribes reaching Rp10 billion.

“It is suspected that Tagop receives around Rp10 billion, including from Ivana (other suspects) as the latter was chosen to handle one of the work projects funded by the 2015 DAK (Special Allocation Fund),” said Lili in a press conference at her office, Jakarta, Wednesday afternoon, January 26.

The fee came from several projects in the regency. Tagop was suspected of asking for a sum of money amounting to 7-10 percent of the project value. “Even specifically for projects funded from DAK, the fee was 7-10 percent plus 8 percent of the project value,” Lili explained.

Tagop allegedly used an intermediary or his aide, Johny Rynhard Kasman who also had been named a suspect, to receive the money before it was transferred to his bank account.

The fee was transferred directly from the private sector as the bribery, Ivana Kwelju. Tagop Sudarsono Soulisa allegedly spent the bribe money to purchase a number of assets using the names of other parties. “To disguise the origin of the money received from the contractor partners,” said Lili.
