KPK Claims Batu Mayor Refused to Cooperate; Mayor Says Otherwise

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday said that the Mayor of Batu, Dewanti Rumpoko, had refused to be questioned as a witness in the alleged gratification case of the 2011-2017 Batu Administration.

“The person involved was present but was unwilling to provide any statement as a witness,” said KPK acting-spokesperson Ali Fikri on March 24.

However, Dewanti claimed she did not undergo any questioning and maintained that there was no schedule set for her to undergo questioning session.

Citing Antara, she recalled her side of the story after attending a festival “What questioning? It’s there, ask them. I was not questioned, just as the KPK investigators,” Dewanti told journalists after attending the Batik Festival in Batu City, East Java.

She is one of four witnesses that were summoned by the KPK in relation to the graft case in the city’s administration.

KPK is currently investigating people in the Batu City Administration for the 2011-2017 period which saw former Batu Deputy Mayor, Eddy Rumpoko, be charged for accepting Rp500 million bribe and received 5.5 years sentence.
