KPK Allegedly Nabs Minister Edhy Prabowo Over Lobster Seeds Exports

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has reportedly arrested the Maritime and Fisheries Minister Edhy Prabowo on Wednesday, November 25, over alleged corruption in lobster seed exports.

According to Tempo’s sources, KPK arrested Edhy Prabowo at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport as the minister completed his United States visit. “[He] was arrested on 01: 23,” said our source on Wednesday.

Tempo reached KPK deputy Lili Pintauli Siregar for confirmation but was given a tight-lipped answer as Siregar said “I am currently out of town. I’ll check it later.”

Tempo Magazine in July this year published an investigative report about the lobster seeds export that was reopened by the restructured Maritime and FIsheries Ministry and the 30 firms that were permitted to conduct the lobster seeds export. Tempo’s finding revealed that 25 of them were newly formed 2-3 months prior.

The Edhy Prabowo-led state ministry was in hot water as a number of political party members were allegedly involved in running these export firms implicating parties such as the Gerindra Party, Golkar Party, and one exporter listed former House of Representatives (DPR) deputy speaker Fahri Hamzah as its shareholder.
