Kivlan Zen Sentenced to 4 Months in Prison for Illegal Firearms Belongings

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta The Panel of Judges of the Central Jakarta District Court sentenced Major General (ret.) Kivlan Zen to four months and 15 days of jail time for the case of prohibited gun ownership.

” The defendant is sentenced to 4 months and 15 days in prison,” stated Chief Justice Agung Suhendro throughout the verdict hearing on Friday, September 24, 2021.

Zen was condemned of dedicating a criminal activity for getting, and in possession of a prohibited gun and ammunition.

According to the judge, the former Army Strategic Reserves Command (Kostrad) Chief of Personnel violated Article 1 paragraph (1) of the Emergency Situation Law No. 12 of 1951 concerning the belongings of weapons in conjunction with Article 56 paragraph (1) of the Wrongdoer Code.

” The proof including one gun and one rifle is confiscated to be destroyed,” said Agung.

The panel of judges thought about a variety of factors that minimizes the sentence, such as Zen had supervised of a peace mission with the Philippine Federal Government in 1995-1996, served in concealed operations, and was involved in the release of Indonesian residents imprisoned in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, aspects that taxed the defendant included the truth that Kivlan Zen triggered public uproar and did not openly admit his actions. The decision was lower than the district attorney’s need of seven months imprisonment.
