Jokowi Visits Hurricane Disaster Victims in East Nusa Tenggara

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi is in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to visit the evacuation site for disaster victims of the Seroja Tropical Cyclone, Friday, April 9. The president and his team are scheduled to arrive at Frans Seda Airport, Maumere, Sikka at 10: 30 East Indonesia Time.

“He will immediately visit two regencies, Flotim and Lembata,” the Seroja storm disaster management spokesman, Marius Jelamu, told Tempo on Friday, April 9.

President Jokowi has brought assistance in the form of food, medicine and clothing for victims in Adonara and Lembata. The aid will be distributed using six helicopters and five ships.

One of the boats will function as a floating hospital.

To date, 144 people have lost their lives because of the Seroja Tropical Cyclone in East Nusa Tenggara. Marius said that 60 people are also missing. “This data is not final yet, it can still change,” he said.
