Jokowi Urges All to Work Hard to Prevent New Wave of Covid-19

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo urged all parties to work hard to prevent a new wave of Covid-19 as occurred in a number of countries.

“Learning from the emergence of a new wave [of Covid-19] in a number of countries, we must work hard so that a similar incident will not occur in Indonesia,” said the President via his Instagram account @jokowi on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.

In the midst of new waves and new variants of the Covid-19 in several countries, he said the Indonesian government is constantly striving for the best diplomacy to ensure the availability of vaccine supply. The community, meanwhile, is asked to adhere to the predetermined health protocols.

On Monday, April 26, 3.8 million doses of ready-to-use AstraZeneca vaccine from the Covax Facility landed in Indonesia via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The vaccines will support the mass vaccination program across the archipelago. The President hoped it could prevent more severe impacts of Covid-19.

“Indonesia currently has the third-highest number of administered doses of Covid-19 vaccine in the Asian region after China and India. However, to achieve the goal, the mass vaccination program provided free by the government still requires the support of all parties,” Jokowi said.
