Jokowi to LPDP Awardee: Show Peaceful and Tolerant Indonesia

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo delivered an online speech at the Studium Generale of the Education Fund for Education (LPDP) on Monday, November 2, 2020.

On that occasion, the President called on scholarship awardees to seize the opportunity provided by the state by learning diligently, developing networks, and preparing for the future of themselves and the nation.

“Use this opportunity to build and strengthen character, talents, and skills. Being a student opens the chance to develop leadership and managerial skills which will be highly useful when you graduate later,” Widodo said.

The scholarship awardees were also advised to pursue new knowledge. According to him, disruptions occur in every aspect of life due to technology such as automation, artificial intelligence, big data, and others that not only affect the economic landscape but also the social, political, and cultural ones.

This opportunity, Joko Widodo went on, should be used as a means to strengthen a sense of nationality, humanity, and Indonesianess. He also reminded all, particularly scholarship recipients who will study abroad, that they represent Indonesia in the international community.

Hence, Jokowi asked them to show the true face of Indonesia, a peaceful, united, and tolerant nation.

“Show that Indonesia is peaceful and united, full of tolerance, and always [applies its motto of] unity in diversity. Attract the international community to travel and invest in Indonesia which will cause goodness to Indonesia’s future,” said the President.
