Jokowi Reminds Law Enforcers to Not ‘Bite’ Those Deemed Innocent

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Monday reminded law enforcers to focus on prevention in terms of supervising the country’s financial accountability amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

In opening the national plenary today, he said the Rp677.2 trillion budget the government had allocated should be well-managed for the handling of COVID-19 and to recover the economy.

“The task held by law enforcers, police, district attorneys, KPK, investigators, and civil servants is to uphold the law. But may I strongly remind you to not ‘bite’ the wrong people. Do not bite those that have no bad intentions. And do not spread fear to practitioners that are doing their job,” said the president today.

Jokowi also reminded the BPKP, inspectorates, and LKPP as internal government authorities to focus on prevention and establish improved governance. The state leader also called for better synergy with external auditors such as the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).
