Jokowi: People Have Major Role in Suppressing COVID-19

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Wednesday called for the public to be aware that the threat posed by the coronavirus (COVID-19) is not yet over and asserts that additional new cases have emerged in a number of Indonesian regions. 

“It’s the people who have the major role to suppress and prevent the spread of COVID-19. This is why I will repeatedly remind people to practice self-discipline and wear face masks, wash your hands, maintain distances, and avoid gatherings,” said the president at the State Palace on Wednesday. 

Indonesia’s COVID-19 cases, as of 12: 00 PM on Tuesday, June 23, have increased by 1,051 cases which brings it to a total of 47,896 confirmed cases, 19,241 recovery cases, and 2,535 deaths. 

“People must continue to remind each other and be disciplined in implementing the health protocol. This is what we must do, this must already be second nature,” said Jokowi.
