Jokowi Orders Search for NTT Flash Flood Victims to Proceed

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Friday arrived in Amakaka village, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), which was one of the areas that was hit hardest by the recent flash floods triggered by tropical cyclone Seroja.

“This noon I am in Amakaka village, which saw the highest death toll from the flash floods that hit Lembata regency,” said President Jokowi on Friday, April 9.

During his visit, the President met with local residents who were currently evacuated at numerous refugee camps, one of which at the Ile Ape subdistrict office. He made sure that the government supplied enough aid to survivors.

“The refugee camps have enough logistics I can concur. One complaint from the people was that the price of fuel is too expensive. I accept that input,” said President Jokowi.

He also met with NTT Governor Viktor Laiskodat and Lembata Regent Eliaser Yentji Sunur to discuss how to enact the recovery process in the province that is now under emergency status.
