Jokowi Monitors Micro PPKM Enforcement in Cempaka Putih

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo made an impromptu visit today, June 25, to directly monitor the enforcement of the micro-scale public activity restrictions or known as Micro PPKM in Community Unit (RW) 01, Rawasari subdistrict, Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta. The President’s visit was not scheduled in his official agenda.

“So I suddenly visit here to confirm whether or not the Micro PPKM is implemented. The RW head said the policy is running,” Jokowi said after the monitoring.

He hoped the COVID-19 restrictions could be applied effectively to all Indonesian regions and not only to areas that were monitored. He demanded regional heads with the help of the Indonesian Military and the National Police enforce the policy together to the lowest level of an area.

“I ask governors, regents, and mayors throughout the country from Sabang to Merauke, assisted by Pangdam (Regional Military Commanders), and Kapolda (Regional Police Chiefs) to help regional governments, districts, and RWs in enforcing the Micro PPKM,” he remarked.

He underlined what was needed now was action and supervision on the policy implementation as the country saw a dramatic spike in new COVID-19 cases that broke the previous record.

“It will be useless if we make a policy but it is not applied to the grassroots level,” Jokowi said.
