IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – President Joko ‘Jokowi‘ Widodo issued Presidential Decree No. 18 of 2020 on the national team for the acceleration of Covid-19 vaccine development. The policy was enacted on September 3, 2020.
In Article 3, the national team has four goals. First, to accelerate the development of the Covid-19 vaccine in Indonesia. Second, to realize national resilience and independence in vaccine development.
The third objective is to increase the synergy of research, development, and study and application of science and technology, as well as the invention and innovation, production, distribution, and use of the vaccine between the government and science and technology institutions.
The fourth goal, meanwhile, is to prepare, utilize, and increase the national capacity and ability in vaccine development.
The team consisted of the steering committee, person in charge, and daily executor. The steering committee will be helmed by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, and the members include Human Development and Culture Coordinating Minister and the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs.
The Covid-19 vaccine development team will carry out its duties beginning the issuance of the presidential decree until December 31, 2021. “After the end of the duties, the task will be taken over by the National Research and Innovation Agency.”
