Jokowi Expects Extraordinary Plans from State Ministers: Moeldoko

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Presidential chief of staff Moeldoko on Monday argues that the anger presented by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo towards his state-ministers in the Cabinet Plenary on June 18 was justified.

“The president was encouraging his assistances, state-ministers, and institution leaders to fully understand that we are enduring a crisis,” said Moeldoko in an interview with ANTARA at the presidential palace on June 29.

Moeldoko made it clear that President Jokowi expects state ministers to leave behind linear ways of managing a crisis and showcase extraordinary ways of handling a situation that he said is equally extraordinary, such as the COVID-19 crisis.

What the president expects from them, according to Moeldoko, is a specific strategy that could eventually overcome the crisis caused by the pandemic.

“The presence of a commander in such a crisis [is what] Jokowi did by being physically present. As soon as he found out that East Java was categorized as a red zone he was immediately present. That is the presence of a [commander in chief],” said the Presidential Chief of Staff.

“The president emphasized that the presence of a leader is a must amidst a situation that we are facing in order to execute the policies quickly, correctly, and accountable,” said Moeldoko.
