Jokowi, Coalition Parties Discuss New Capital City Development

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo met with leaders of coalition political parties at the Jakarta State Palace, Wednesday, August 25. One of the issues discussed in the meeting was the new capital city development.

The NasDem Party Secretary-General Johnny Plate said the meeting focused on the new capital city law.

“The new national capital (IKN) development will be followed up by preparing the primary legislation in the form of the IKN Law which will be processed by the House of Representatives (DPR). The schedule for IKN development will be adjusted due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Johnny.

He added that they also highlighted issues on state administration, regional autonomy, and the government system in the wake of the pandemic. “Indonesia needs good governance that allows quick decision-making and efficient governance,” he said.

Other issues brought up during the discussion include progress, challenges, and plans for the Covid-19 handling, as well as national macroeconomic developments.

Present in the meeting were PDIP chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri accompanied by Sec-Gen Hasto Kristiyanto, Nasdem chairman Surya Paloh and Sec-Gen Johnny Plate, Golkar chairman Airlangga Hartarto and Sec-Gen Lodewijk Paulus, Gerindra chairman Prabowo Subianto and Sec-Gen Ahmad Muzani.

PKB chairman Muhaimin Iskandar and Sec-Gen Hasanuddin Wahid, PPP chairman Suharso Monoarfa and Sec-Gen Arwani Thomafi, PAN chairman Zulkifli Hasan and Sec-Gen Eddy Soeparno, as well as PDIP General Treasurer Olly Dondokambey also participated in the meeting with Jokowi.
