Jokowi Calls on Regional Heads to Be Strict to Enforce Health Protocol

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo asked Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian to reprimand regional heads who are deemed to not strictly enforce the health protocol against Covid-19 in their regions.

“I also ask the Home Affairs Minister to remind regional heads, either governors, regents, and mayors, if necessary, of showing good examples to the community, instead of joining the crowds,” said the President in a closed limited meeting on the report of the Covid-19 Mitigation and National Economic Recovery Committee at the Presidential Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday, November 16, 2020.

Based on the release issued by the Press, Media, and Presidential Secretariat Bureau, Joko Widodo reminded that regions that have regional regulations regarding the enforcement of the health protocol discipline should carry out these rules in a firm, consistent, and indiscriminate manner.

President Jokowi further highlighted the struggles and sacrifices that have been made by doctors, nurses, medical personnel, and paramedics during this pandemic.

“Do not let what doctors, nurses, medical personnel, and paramedics have done be in vain because the government does not act decisively for activities that violate existing health protocol and regulations,” the state head underlined.
