Jokowi Calls for Muhammadiyah to Help Suppress Vaccine Hoaxes

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – During the 108th anniversary of Muhammadiyah, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo called for members of one of Indonesia’s largest Islamic organizations to help the government suppress hoaxes regarding Covid-19 vaccine.

“I do hope that Muhammadiyah would help provide the correct explanation and understanding for the public and prevent the circulation of hoaxes,” said Jokowi in the virtual Muhammadiyah anniversary on Wednesday, November 18, 2020.

The concern was raised as the Indonesian government is eyeing to produce a proper vaccine by the end of this November and has also announced the country’s vaccination program to begin in December of 2020 or January 2021 at the earliest.

“The government is preparing this program the best we can and ensure its safety, effectiveness, halal aspect, and the vaccine’s public aspect,” said Jokowi who also expressed hope that the country would soon recover.
