Jokowi Calls for Health Protocol Compliance amidst Vaccination

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said the government boosts its attempts to better mitigate the spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia as the country has implemented a micro-scale social restriction policy (Micro PPKM) and the enactment of nationwide vaccination.

“16.9 million public workers and 21.5 million elderly citizens are subjected to the second phase of vaccinations,” the President wrote in an Instagram post on his personal account on Tuesday, March 2.

The mass-vaccination on a national scale had been initiated on January 13 which prioritized healthcare workers, President Jokowi himself was one of the first vaccine recipients, among other state officials, to symbolize and assure the public about the safety of the vaccine.

Indonesia is currently still using a vaccine produced by China’s pharmaceutical firm Sinovac with state-pharma Bio Farma preparing a massive vaccine production this year. Other vaccines Indonesia will have its hands on include AstraZeneca and Pfizer.

President Jokowi called for people to remain obedient to the existing health protocols despite the nationwide vaccination.
