Jokowi Asks for a Halt to Israel Aggression

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi invited world’s state leaders to together put a stop to Israel aggression against Palestine. He said that Indonesia condemns Israel’s attacks to the Palestinians that killed many people, including women and children.

“Indonesia strongly condemns Israeli’s attacks which has resulted in the loss of lives of hundreds, including women and children. Israel aggression must be put to a stop,” he said on his official Twitter account @jokowi, Saturday, May 15.

The president said that he had talks with a number of state leaders regarding the situation in Palestine, that include Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, King of Malaysia Yang Dipertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah, Singaporean Prime Minister (PM) Lee Hsien Loong, President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani, Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Hassanal Bolkiah, Malaysian PM Muhyiddin Yassin. All agreed that the situation in Palestine is very worrying.

It has nearly a week since the tensions between Palestine and Israel broke, following Israel’s initiative to send out the Palestinians from Sheikh Jarrah area. The location is recognized as part of the Palestine.

The Palestinians against the eviction resisted by demonstrating in front of the Al-Aqsa mosque last week. Israel responded harshly to the action, which resulted in a clash between the residents and officers. From there, the situation developed into confrontations between Hamas militants and Israel military, where the Gaza Strip becomes the deadliest spot.

As cited from Xinhua, the Hamas-run ministry of health said in a text message that 122 Palestinians have been killed, including 31 children and 20 women, and 900 others injured since Monday in the Gaza Strip.
