Jokowi Among Top 20 World’s Most Influential Muslims in 2021

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Presidential spokesman Fadjroel Rachman confirmed that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo was listed among the world’s most influential Muslims in 2021 according to the international think tank The Muslim 500.

“The name of President Joko Widodo has been listed in The Muslim 500 since 2015. In fact, he has always been ranked among top 20 Muslim influential figures in the world,” said Fadjroel in a written statement on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020.

Fadjroel said the government appreciated the award. According to him, the Widodo government keeps promoting tolerance, diversity, brotherhood, and concern for others regardless of ethnicity, race, religion, and belief, as the spirit of the humanitarian struggle of the nation in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic together.

Based on the themuslim500.com page, Joko Widodo made to the 12th rank of the world’s most influential Muslim figures in 2021 alongside other figures. 

Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan topped the list, followed by King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud (2nd place) and Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei (3rd place).

Other than Jokowi, Indonesia’s largest Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama chairman Said Aqil Siradj was nominated in 18th place and Pekalongan-born cleric who is also a member of the Presidential Advisory Council Luthfi Bin Yahya was in 32nd place.
