Job Creation Law: Jokowi’s Millennial Staffer Meets Student Representatives

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s millennial staffer, Aminuddin Ma’ruf, invited Friday nine student DEMA PTKIN executive board representatives to discuss and help formulate derivative rules of the Job Creation Law (UU Cipta Kerja) No.11/2020.

“We agreed on an active and constructive involvement from many aspects, especially students, to be involved in the formulation of the Job Creation Law’s derivatives,” said Aminuddin at the Presidential Palace Complex on November 6.

The DEMA PTKIN is the alliance of executive boards of Islamic universities in Indonesia. Aminuddin said the government was hoping to correct the drawbacks contained in the Job Creation Law with derivative rules.

In the meeting, the students proposed to take the Job Creation to the Constitutional Court’s judicial review.

“In general, the students will file two clusters to be judicially reviewed at the Constitutional Court,” he said. “The clusters oversee central and regional government’s authorities and about the management of the environment.”

DEMA PTKIN coordinator Ongki Fachrur Rozie said the Job Creation Law lacked public participation in its formulation, injured Indonesia’s 1945 Constitution, and deviated from the spirit of democracy.
