Jakarta’s Flood Mitigations to Comply with Pandemic Health Protocols

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan revealed the government’s mitigtaion plan on flood refugees in the middle of a COVID-19 pandemic. 

“The refugee sites will abide by health protocols,” said Anies Baswedan at the Metro Jaya Police headquarters on September 30 following the official Jakarta flood emergency drill.

He explains that the standard procedure of having refugees share one large tent will be changed to accommodate the existing health protocols that must abide by physical distancing measures. 

In his speech at the police headquarters, Anies Baswedan asserted the importance of anticipating floods in the capital city, especially the additional challenges amidst the pandemic. 

“We now face COVID-19, evacuation locations, refugee sites, and all of the existing protocols upon handling flood refugees must abide by health protocols,” said the governor.
