Jakarta Sets New Record of All-Time Daily Hike in Covid-19 Cases

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Jakarta reported 1,450 new Covid-19 confirmed cases, setting an all-time high of daily infections on Thursday, September 10. The figure pushed the total tally to 51,287.

The previous record was noted on Thursday, September 3, with 1,406 new infections.

The city’s Health Agency Head for Disease Prevention and Control, Dwi Oktavia, said 1,002 of the new infections were obtained from the test result of 7,979 specimens on Wednesday, September 9, and the rest 448 cases were from the previous data on September 7 and 8 that reported late.

She reiterated that until September 9, 2020, Jakarta had examined 809,286 samples through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests in 54 laboratories.

At present, Dwi said the active cases amounted to 11,696. 38,226 patients have recovered, while 1,365 patients died. Thus, the recovery rate hit 74.5 percent, and the case fatality rate remained at 2.7 percent.

Meanwhile, the positivity rate of Covid-19 in Jakarta for the past week was 12.7 percent. Whereas, the total rate since the onset of the outbreak was 7.1 percent, surpassing the WHO standard of 5 percent.
