Jakarta Limits Visitors in Movie Theaters to 25% Capacity

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Jakarta Tourism Agency is limiting the maximum capacity of movie theaters to only 25 percent during the Transitional PSBB or Large-scale Social Restrictions. The agency’s Tourism Industry head, Bambang Ismadi, said cinema managers should first obtain a permit from the agency prior to reopening.

Cinema managers are obliged to propose and earn the technical permit, Bambang said.

“They have to propose a technical permit. There is a procedure [for the cinema opening]. Our team will then check it. If it is concluded okay and approved, the agency will issue a letter stating that the cinema is allowed to open,” Bambang explained in Jakarta, Monday, October 12, 2020.

The permit rules are also stipulated in the guidelines of the health protocols that were mandated to various industries during the transitional PSBB. In the provision, cinemas are categorized as indoor activities.

In addition to the maximum capacity of 25 percent, cinema operators must maintain the seating distance to 1.5 meters at minimum, and if they provide food, they must ensure the sterilization of the utensils.

In an indoor activity, movie theaters officers must provide a guest book and collect visitors’ data including the date of visit, return time, full name, the first six numbers of ID Card, and phone numbers. They are also allowed to use the QR Code technology.
