Jakarta Explains Reason for Highest Daily Rise in Covid-19 Cases

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Jakarta provincial administration revealed the factor that caused the highest daily rise in Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, June 9, that reached 234, up from the previous highest trend at 223 cases on April 15, 2020.

The city’s Head of Health Resources of the Health Agency, Ani Ruspitawati, assessed that the surge was attributable to delay in sample examinations from several private laboratories that were closed on Saturday and Sunday.

“So the specimens are examined on Monday, causing the increase in test results that are reported on Tuesday,” said Ani in an online press conference. 

The biggest daily surge in Covid-19 cases thus far occurred on the fifth-day enforcement of the transition period to a new normal era that began on Friday, June 5.

As of today, the cumulative number of the Covid-19 case in Jakarta amounted to 8,276. Of the figure, 1,442 patients were still being treated at hospitals, and 2,918 patients were conducting self-isolation at home.

As many as 164 people have been declared healthy today, bringing the total recovery to 3,369. “While the death toll is recorded at 547 people.”

The number of people under monitoring is recorded at 17,745, and the number of patients under monitoring is now at 12,406. “We call on the public to always abide by the health protocols to prevent the coronavirus or Covid-19 transmission,” Ani underlined.
