Jakarta Collects 22,000 Kg E-waste in 9 Months

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Jakarta Environment Agency announced on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, that it had collected up to 22,683 kilograms of electronic waste or e-waste from February to October 2020.

The city’s environment agency head, Andono Warih, said the electronic wastes were collected from dozens of e-waste drop boxes spread across a number of public facilities, buildings, and government offices in the city’s capital.

Most of these are household e-wastes and those from offices, schools, hotels, and apartments.

“We have worked together with a third party that has obtained permits from the environment agency to handle the waste management follow up,” wrote Andono on Wednesday, November 18, 2020.

Andono said that there are a number of Jakartans filing formal requests to pick up e-wastes for follow up waste management, which can be accessed from the website, lingkunganhidup.jakarta.go.id, or the Jakarta Environment Agency’s Facebook page.
