Indonesian Authorities Capture Two Malaysian Fishing Boats in Malacca Strait

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Indonesian authorities caught two foreign fishing vessels with Malaysian flags in the waters of the Malacca Strait The vessels are presumed of poaching in Fisheries Management Area (WPP) 571.

The first ship is KM JHF 4631 B, recorded as operating bubo fish traps. On the other hand, the 2nd ship is KM. SLFA 4107 which operates trawl fishing gear.

The two boats were recorded on Sunday, January 24, 2021.

Officers also detained 7 team members throughout the patrol operation, three Malaysian nationals and 4 Myanmar nationals.

In addition to the 2 foreign vessels, authorities likewise captured an Indonesian flagged vessel, KM BAROENA, for operating trawls without documents required by the Ministry.

” All boats will go through legal procedures according to applicable regulations,” Antam Novambar, director general of the Guidance of Marine and Fisheries Resources, said in a written statement, Tuesday, January 26.
