Indonesia Records 1 Million Covid-19 Cases, Specialist Demands Stringent Guidelines

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta University of Indonesia (UI) epidemiologist Tri Yunis Miko Wahyono suggested that the Indonesian federal government should implement a stringent massive social constraint (PSBB) to considerably minimize Covid-19 infection rate. The statement was made after Indonesia formally exceeded one million verified cases.

” Moderate to stringent social constraints should be carried out rather of the current half-hearted social constraint which can not decrease the number of new verified cases in Indonesia,” stated Wahyono on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.

Despite his acknowledgment which containing the viral spread is a challenging job, he underlined that the mortality rate brought on by Covid-19, which has actually reached 28,000 deaths, must be suppressed at all expense.

Wahyono also afraid of the possible overcapacity of medical facilities and other healthcare centers handling coronavirus cases as a 3rd of the one million cumulative cases is active cases that require constant healthcare services.

The epidemiologist also argued that Covid-19 tests should be propagated and carried out evenly across Indonesian regions, in addition to strict quarantine, isolation, and contact tracing efforts.
