Indonesia Receiving 1.1mn Doses of AstraZeneca Vaccines Today

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Indonesia today will receive 1.1 million doses of the AstraZeneca Vaccine from the UK. These vaccines will arrive in finished form, ready to use.

“There will be 1.1 million doses,” the National Covid-19 Task Force spokesman, Wiku Adisasmito, said on Monday, March 8.

President Joko Widodo or Jokowi had said that 4.6 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines will arrive in Indonesia this month. The Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said the AstraZeneca vaccine would arrive in stages.

The vaccine’s arrival will be live-streamed via the Presidential Secretariat official YouTube channel, starting at 18: 25.

Indonesia already has 38 million Covid-19 vaccines, of which 3 million are in finished form and 35 million are in the form of raw materials, which will be processed by state-owned Bio Farma.

With the first batch arrival of AstraZeneca, Indonesia will have 39.1 million Covid-19 vaccines by the end of the day.

The inclusion of AstraZeneca vaccines is expected to help the government reach its target faster; vaccinating 60 to 70 percent of the population, or around 181.5 million people.
