Indonesia Issues Rule Allowing PPE, Face Mask Exports

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Indonesia issued Trade Minister’s Regulation No.57/2020 on the exports provisions of raw materials for masks, face masks, and personal protective equipment. With the regulation, PPE exports will be allowed.

Trade Minister Agus Suparmanto said he had signed the regulation and it is now being legitimized by the Law and Human Rights Ministry.

“The purpose [of this regulation] is to push national economic growth, especially the industrial sector, as well as push export performances amid Covid-19 pandemic,” Minister Agus said in a written statement, Tuesday, June 16.

The new regulation automatically abolishes Trade Minister’s Regulation No.34/2020.

However, the exception for exporters—based on Trade Minister’s Regulation No.23/2020 in conjunction with Regulation no.34/2020—will remain in effect June 30 this year. The rule prohibits the export of antiseptics, raw materials for masks, personal protective equipment, and face masks — issued to the availability of medical devices in the country.
