Indonesia Exempts Quarantine for People under ‘Urgent Circumstances’

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Covid-19 Task Force issued Circular no.1/2022 on Health Protocols for Overseas Travel during the Covid-19 Pandemic. It includes, among others, dispensations from quarantine for certain groups of people in urgent circumstances.

The circular was signed by the Task Force’s chief, Lt. Gen. Suharyanto, January 4.

“The dispensation takes the form of exempting Indonesian nationals from quarantine mandate due to urgent circumstances,” the circular said.

In a press conference today, the Task Force’s spokesman Wiku Adisasmito said that the circumstances of urgency include medical conditions that are life threatening or requiring special needs, as well as circumstances of grief such as the death of immediate family members.

Quarantine dispensation can also be given to foreign nationals who are representatives’ leaders, holders of diplomatic or work visas from ministry-level institutions or above, visitors arriving under the Travel Corridor Arrangement scheme, delegates of G20 members and respectable members of international societies.

“They may submit a request for dispensation to the Indonesian Covid-19 Task Force via the BNPB office or by email to [email protected], addresses to the Covid-19 Task Force head, at least 3 days and 7 days before arrival,” Wiku said.

This policy will be in full effect tomorrow, January 7.
