Indonesia COVID-19 Update as of Jan. 17: 772 New Cases, 4 Deaths

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Indonesia’s number of COVID-19 cases continued to increase. The national task force against the disease reported 772 new infections as of 12 p.m. Monday, January 17.

The country’s total caseload has now reached 4,272,421 since the first cases were discovered nearly two years ago or on March 2, 2020.

The number of patients recovered from the disease also rose by 598 people, pushing the total recoveries to 4,119,472.

The task force also recorded four new deaths as of today. Thus, the virus death toll in Indonesia has now reached 144,174.

In addition to new positive cases, the government is monitoring 3,069 people who are now suspected of being exposed to the virus as they made close contact with people who tested positive for the virus.

The authorities have also examined 269,513 specimens related to the coronavirus today.
