Indonesia Allocates Rp1.49tn to Digitalize Schools by 2021

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The government is preparing a budget to digitalize schools. Education and Culture Minister Nadiem Makarim said they are allocating Rp1.49 trillion for the school digitization program in 2021.

During a budget meeting with the DPR’s Commission X on September 3, Nadiem said the school digitalization program comprises of strengthening digital platforms with a budget of Rp109.85 billion, procuring learning contents for TVRI Rp131 billion, learning materials and digital media for Rp74.02 billion, as well as the provision of educational facilities and IT equipment of Rp1.175 trillion.

“The syllabus for offline learning will be available online now, and more interactive,” he said. 

Nadiem said that school digitization aims to provide freedom for schools to access the same information, close the gap between privileged and non-privileged students, and improve studies quality by providing access to collaboration.

“This gives freedom for our children to learn from various sources,” he said.
