IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian urged regional heads to take measures to restrict breaking-the-fast gatherings better known as buka bersama or bukber and ban the Eid al-Fitr open house.
The orders are noted in Circular No. 800/2794/SJ concerning the restriction on bukber gathering during Ramadan and the ban on the open house or halalbihalal on Eid al-Fitr 1442 Hijri signed on Tuesday, May 4, 2021.
“Governors and Regents/Mayors are instructed to take the following actions: limit the activity of breaking-the-fast gatherings in which the number of attendance must not more than five family members plus five people during 1442/2021 Eid al-Fitr,” as quoted from point a of the circular.
Point b of the circular noted that all state officials or state apparatus in regions are also barred from holding an open house or halalbihalal event.
As the new circular issued, the previous minister’s circulars regarding similar matters released on May 3, 2021, No. 450/2769/SJ and No. 800/2784/SJ, were revoked and declared invalid.
The activity restriction and the ban policy were issued by Home Affairs Minister on considerations of the spike in Covid-19 cases, especially during last year’s Eid al-Fitr holidays and after the 2020 Christmas and 2021 New Year holidays.
