Health Minister Pleased as 1 Million Healthcare Workers Vaccinated

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin on Thursday, Feb. 11, claimed that over one million Indonesian healthcare workers had received the Covid-19 vaccine injections.

“I am happy today, why? The vaccinations have permeated over one million healthcare workers,” he said during his visit at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) headquarters on February 11.

According to the Health Minister, this number represents 85 percent of the government’s initial goal of vaccinating 1.48 million people in the healthcare services sector.

Budi said those who have yet received their vaccination shots were people with many health reasons such as comorbidity, pregnancy, or problems regarding high blood pressure.

He explained that after the Covid-19 vaccination for healthcare workers is complete, the government can continue vaccinating the remaining ‘priority groups’ which include the elderly people and public service workers. The inoculation is scheduled to commence early this week.

Indonesia is eyeing to vaccinate 181.5 million of its population who are 18 years old and above and it will need 363000 doses as one person would need two Covid-19 vaccine shots.
