IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – One of the Bung Hatta Anti-Corruption Award (BHACA) 2017 panel of judges, Betti Alisjahbana, on Monday somewhat requested one of the award recipients, Nurdin Abdullah, to return the award after Adbulah was nabbed by the Corruption Eradication Corruption (KPK) over alleged graft.
“We actually hope that NA [Nurdin Abdulah] will return the award if he committed corruption without having to wait for a court ruling,” said Betti to Tempo on Monday, March 1.
Betti admitted of being surprised by the capture of Nurdin Abdullah by the anti-graft watchdog as the award Abdullah won was a recognition to the type of governance that was considered to be ‘clean and good’ when he was the Regent of Bantaeng, South Sulawesi from 2008-2018 for two period in office.
Once an award winner is proven to have committed a crime contrary to the award’s principles. BHACA policy requires the awards given to persons to be reviewed again. In essence, if the anti-corruption principle has provenly been violated then the bestowel must be revoked.
KPK named Nurdin Abdullah a suspect after allegedly receiving a bribe estimated to be Rp5.4 billion from contractors of an infrastructure project in South Sulawesi.
