Govt to Grant Quarantine-Free Arrival for Indonesians in Emergency

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta Covid-19 task force spokesperson Wiku Adisasmito on Thursday said Indonesian citizens who are returning home from traveling overseas can receive dispensation on the Covid quarantine under certain situations.

“The dispensation for Indonesian citizens is only given to those under emergency situations, life-threatening situations, seeking special healthcare treatments, and to attend funerals of relatives,” said the spokesperson in an online conference on Thursday, February 17.

One of the ways to submit this dispensation is by sending a letter to the task force and showing proof of a negative Covid-19 test result as they arrive in Indonesia.

This comes as the government plans to slash quarantine requirements for international travelers to just three days as of March 1, 2022.

Indonesia presently requires international travelers, both Indonesians and foreigners, to undergo five-day quarantine. Wiku hinted that it could likely be reduced to just three days as of March this year.

As reported earlier this month, the leniency would only apply to every Indonesian and foreigner who had received their COVID-19 booster jabs, said Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno. He even noted that the government will consider erasing the quarantine rule entirely if the Indonesian public showcases a high level of compliance towards health protocols.
