Garuda Indonesia Investigated for Alleged Airplane Lease Corruption

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) is reportedly investigating a suspected corruption case within Garuda Indonesia, which involves aircraft lease. Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Supardi, confirmed on Thursday, December 30.

“Yes, it’s related to airplane lease,” said Supardi as reoprted by Antaranews.

He said the AGO is still analyzing the alleged crime and was not keen on spilling further details regarding the criminal offense.

What is clear, Supardi went on, is that the Attorney General’s Office has yet questioned the witnesses but has coordinated with Garuda Indonesia leaders.

“We have asked for more information with Garuda CEO. It is still too early to ask the question,” he said.

Despite his reluctance to reveal the matter further, Supardi said that the alleged corruption in Garuda Indonesia’s charter had caused huge losses. The possible offense that will be handled by the Adhyaksa Corps is related to Article 2 and Article 3 of the Corruption Crime Act.
