Ganjar Pranowo Says Central Java Ready to Apply PPKM Darurat

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo asserted that his region is ready to implement emergency public activity restrictions (PPKM Darurat) according to the central government’s instructions on July 3, 2021, which is aimed at tackling the spike in Covid-19 cases.

“Of course we are ready, I think it (the policy) is better. It is a more assertive measure,” said Ganjar when met after attending an online meeting with Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan in Semarang, Wednesday, June 30.

However, Ganjar said that the implementation of the Emergency PPKM is still waiting for the central government’s guidelines.

“We are still waiting for the operational guidelines. The information will be released today (Wednesday). Then it will be implemented immediately,” he added.

Ganjar claimed his administration had tightened Covid-19 regulations and had even issued Gubernatorial Instruction Number 1 of 2021, some of the rules were in line with the Emergency PPKM.

“For example, stricter rules in crowded places and more detailed rules. We encourage preventive measures, optimize the role of Jogo Tonggo (community-based initiative against Covid-19), and call for volunteers,” he said.

Ganjar Pranowo has ordered all regents/mayors to enforce a lockdown at the neighborhood unit or RT level that is classified as the Covid-19 red zone and asked for an acceleration of vaccination as an effort to prevent transmission.
