Ex-KPK Leader: Govt Can Be Accused as Perpetrator Due To Rampant Hacking

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – The former leader of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Bambang Widjojanto, perceived that the hacking against Tempo.co could trigger panic and anxiety among other news media outlets.

“Because they could be the next victim so they panic and feel anxious,” said Bambang through a written statement on Friday, August 21.

Other than Tempo.co, he observed that rampant hacking attempts that occurred this year was a state betrayal against the constitution.

Earlier reports said activists Ravio Patra and Pandu Riono also experienced digital threats and found their social media accounts hacked. Bambang said being different and raising criticism were the right of every human being that must be protected.

“The act of hacking cannot be tolerated under any reason,” he underlined.

Bambang thus urged the government to take a clear position, which is objecting to any hacking attempt. If necessary, the government must activate cyber law enforcers or law enforcement policies in this cyber era to apprehend hackers, he added.

“If those efforts are not applied, the government will potentially be accused of being part of the perpetrators over the hacking, and that is a despicable act,” Bambang Widjojanto said.
