DPRD Says PSBB Re-enactment Won’t Be Effective

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Chairman of Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Mujiyono predicted that the large-scale social restriction (PSBB) planned to be re-enacted in the city will not be as effective as previously.

He reasoned that the people are now getting used to the transitional period to the new normal and have been recovering their economy.

“It’s going to be hard to re-implement PSBB in Jakarta. People are now in the phase of recovering their economy,” Mujiyono told Tempo when contacted on Saturday, September 12.

According to Mujiyono, the job seekers will be worst affected by the reimposition of PSBB, as the earlier PSBB had even forced companies to lay off their employees.

“The total PSBB will affect the psychology of people who are economically affected.”

He suggested the total social restriction can be executed if the amount of the current regional treasury is enough to fulfill people’s needs. The fact is that regional governments need more income to drive the economy, Mujiyono added.
