DPR Member, Metro Jaya Police Discuss PDIP Flag-burning

IDNEWSNOW.COM, Jakarta – Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker, Herman Heri, on Friday met with the Metro Jaya Police Inspector General Nana Sudjana to discuss Wednesday’s incident that saw demonstrators burn a flag of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) during a protest against the bill on the Pancasila ideology (RUU HIP).

“I visited the Metro Jaya police today to discuss the PDIP flag-burning with the police chief and general crimes unit,” said Herman to reporters at the police headquarters on Friday, June 26.

Herman reportedly requested the police chief to professionally enforce the law and noted that Indonesia is not a barbaric nation and that people will surely be offended if insulted.

“There have yet been any reports filed by PDIP representatives during the first discussion,” said Herman who asserts that his presence at the police HQ is not to report the incident but rather to fulfill his role as the Speaker of House of Representatives’ (DPR) Commission III.
